About Jonas Zetzsche
Jonas Zetzsche is a doctoral student in Biology at the MTM Research Centre. His research focuses on the effects of chemical pollution on our aquatic environments using cell-based models. He's interested in mixture toxicity, chemical modes of action, and identifying hazardous chemicals using different bioassays. As a doctoral student, he is also involved in teaching activities.
Research
Jonas uses cell-based models in his research, mostly adapted to the aquatic environment, as he is part of the Molecular Aquatic Toxicology (MAT) group at Örebro University. His recent work revolves around the usage of high-content imaging (Cell Painting) - an imaging technique that detects subtle changes in subcellular structure caused by contaminants. In combination with other omics techniques, he's trying to further understand how chemical pollution affects our ecosystems.
In addition, his project is part of the transdisciplinary research school WATCH.
