About Jessica Montero
Jessica Montero is a senior lecturer at the School of Health Sciences. Since august 2019, Jessica is also the Head of the Division of Medical Diagnostics.
Jessica has a PhD from Örebro University; "Amino acid transport and receptor binding properties in neuropsychiatric disorders using the fibroblast cell model".
Research
Jessicas research is mainly in neuropsychiatric and degenerative disorders at the cell level. The focus is to study how various substances (i.e., pro-inflammatory cytokines and drugs/medicines etc.) effects the transport of amino acids (precursors to different important neurotransmitters) by using a cell model.
Teaching
Jessica teaches in cell biology, biochemistry and pharmacology at bachelor and master level. She supervises degree projects and co-supervises PhD students.
