About Jens Schollin
Jens Schollin was vice-chancellor of Örebro University between 2008 - 2016. Prior to that, between 2003 and 2008, he held the post of pro vice-chancellor. Jens Schollin is professor of paediatrics and defended his thesis "Infective Endocarditis in Swedish Children" in 1988 at Linköping University. He is a neonatal specialist and has an extensive network within his medical field.
In the 1990s, Jens Schollin was the head of the Department of Paediatrics at Örebro University Hospital and has performed a number of government assignments within his specialty. He has held several senior positions, among others head of research, at Örebro University Hospital and Örebro County Council, and was leading the efforts to bring the medical programme to Örebro University. Jens Schollin has also had a number of assignments on different leadership training schemes around Sweden.
As a scientist, Jens Schollin's two main research interests have been pain in newborns and neonatal bacterial infections. He has published close to 100 research papers, been the supervisor of some 10 doctoral students, and has been in much demand as a faculty examiner.
