About Jenny Friberg
Jenny Friberg is a research nurse at the Department of Orthopedics and Hand Surgery, Region Örebro County. She received her nursing degree in 2010 at Örebro University and became an OR-nurse in 2017. She has been a doctoral student since 2024.
Research
Surgical wound infections, and especially prosthetic joint infections (PJI) are rare but feared complications after joint replacement surgery. PJI cause great suffering, increase the risk of death, and entail large costs for society. However, there is a lack of evidence, does these infections arise due to air contamination or is it the patient's own skin bacteria that causes the infection? This has not been studied properly; therefore, we want to investigate it through air and skin cultures intraoperatively.
