About Franziska Primus

Franziska Primus has been a PhD student in Education at Örebro University since 2019. She has studied Educational Science at Freie Universität Berlin (BA, 2013) and Education Studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (MA, 2016).

Franziska wrote her PhD thesis titled Present Futures in Global Education Governance: A Critical Discourse Analysis of UNESCO's Futures of Education Initiative. She examined the role of present futures in global education policy discourse by analysing how they shape and are used to legitimise programmatic ideas for education. UNESCO and its initiative, Futures of Education: Learning to Become, serve as the main empirical entry points into the arena.

Franziska is a faculty-funded PhD student affiliated to the graduate school Schooling in Perspective: A Graduate School in Applied History of Education and a member of the Swedish Educational Research Association (SWERA) as well as of the German Educational Research Association (GERA). Furthermore, she is part of the research group Utbildning och demokrati [Education and democracy] at Örebro University, of STudieS: An STS Network in Education, and of the Local Organising Committee of ISCHE 42 in Örebro.

At Örebro University, Franziska teaches in the international program for exchange students and builds her experience on teaching responsibilities in the teacher education program at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
