About Eewa Nånberg

Eewa Nånberg is professor in Biomedical Laboratory Science, School of Health Sciences, at Örebro University, since 2018. Eewa Nånberg has a research background in Cell biology and cell signalling, Tumour biology, cellular responses to exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and more recently cellular signalling in inflammatory responses.

Research

Eewa Nånberg has over the years moved between different research questions and projects with a common denominator of cellular responses related to disease mechanisms orchstrated  by tumour cells. The current main focus is on inflammatory responses in monocytes/macrophages and interaction with tumour cells and regulation of tumour development, NiMO,(1-methyl Nicotinamide-driven ImmunoMOdulation in glioblastoma (NiMO). A project run in collaboration with Sprint Bioscience within the strategic research profile X-HiDE where Eewa Nånberg since 2019 is PI for WP1, Experimental inflammatory models, (https://www.oru.se/var-profil/strategiska-forskningsprofiler/x-hide/).

The other research focus is on exposure of in vitro cultures of neuronal cells and monocytes for defined endocrine disrupting chemicals  (phenols) and adverse effects on cellular regulation through the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system has important although far from well described regulatory effects on inflammatory cells and this project aims to identify primary targets for environmental phenol exposures in endocannabinoid-receptor signalling in relation to intreaction with regulatory mechanisms in tumour cells with neuroblastoma cells as an in vitro model.
