About Cecilia Klanger
Cecilia Klanger started her PhD at Örebro University in May 2023. She graduated from Örebro University School of Medicine in January 2023 and is now performing her internship as a medical doctor in Arvika, Region Värmland.
During her master thesis project focusing on Neisseria meningitidis, Cecilia came in touch with her current research team at the Department of laboratory medicine, clinical microbiology/molecular biology, at Örebro University Hospital. In connection with this, she made a study trip to the Pasteur Institute in Paris, as part of an Erasmus+ traineeship programme. As a doctoral student and with the project ”Genetic variants of Neisseria meningitidis linked to phenotypic outcome of infection vs carriage”, she continues in this area of research, aiming to explore genetic variants of N. meningitidis linked to carriage and invasive disease, respectively. A part of her project is still connected to the Pasteur Institute, and she has therefore had the possibility to contribute to keeping the collaboration between Örebro and the Pasteur Institute active.
