About Carola Liebe-Harkort

Carola Liebe-Harkort is a registered nurse and holds a PhD in Osteoarchaeology. She has been working as a nurse since 2017. 

On two occasions she has been on international missions for Doctor Without Borders (MSF) as nurse, in Greece and in Lithuania, working in refegee contexts. 

Carola has previously worked as osteologist and archaeologist. She recieved her PhD in 2010 in Osteoarchaeology, at the Osteoarchaeology Research Laboratory, Stockholm University. Her thesis focused on analyzing oral and dental health in a population from the Early Iron Age. For that she collaborated with cariologists, endodontists and periodontists. She also attented several courses at the Karolinska Institute. 

As an osteologist, Carola has (among others) been working in the Unites States analyzing bison bones from Paleoindian culture as well as on Gotland with skeleton from the Viking Age. For three seasons she worked in Pompeii, Italy, in the Swedish Pompeii Project. On several occasions she has also been hired by the police. 

She has a broad and long experience of teaching and tutorial as an osteologist, mainly at Stockholm, Lund and Uppsala University. As as nurse, she has been responsible for nursing students both a supervisor and as AKA.
