About Björn Johansson

Background

Björn Johansson became PhD in sociology on the thesis "Fighting for recognition - A study in the dynamics of street violence" at Örebro University in 2001. In 2003 he became Senior Lecturer in Social Work. In 2015, he became Associate Professor in Social Work. Björn Johansson is Head of subject in Social work. 

Research Interests

His research focuses mainly on children’s and adolescents' experiences and consequences of violence, school bullying and other forms of degrading treatment, as well as questions related to evaluation and evidence of promotive, preventive and remedial interventions in schools. In recent years he has also been working on research related to school absenteeism and school dropouts. 

Teaching

He teaches mainly scientific theory and research method in social work, and supervise and examine papers and essays at all levels. He also supervises doctoral candidates in social work. Björn is also teaching at different doctoral courses. 

Networks and collaborations

Björn Johansson has also ongoing collaborations with researchers, professionals and NGOs working with questions related to school bullying.

Björn has been a member of Prince Carl Philip and the Princess Sofia Foundation's Expert Council hate and bullying online since 2016.

Member of the Organizing Committee of the World Anti-Bullying Forum - WABF.

Member of the Swedish Research Council's Educational Science Committee (UVK), evaluation group UV-1 - Social aspects of education.

Since 2015, Björn has had extensive research and evaluation collaboration with the Friends Foundation and Friends International Centre Against Bullying.
