About Antonios Valachis

Antonios Valachis is Associate Professor of Oncology since 2018 and senior consultant at the Department of Oncology, Örebro University Hospital. His clinical work and research is focused on breast cancer and melanoma.

Research

Antonios conducts clinical research with different methods depending on the research question to be answered: epidemiological studies, observational studies, interventional studies and meta-analyses.

Ongoing research projects:

  • Pharmacoepidemiological studies regarding potential interaction between cancer and non-cancer medication in breast cancer and risk for late toxicities after oncological treatment.
  • Insights on the prognosis and molecular characterization of metaplastic breast cancer.
  • Artificial intelligence Supporting CAncer Patients across Europé – the ASCAPE project (Funded by: H2020-SC1-DTH-2019 / Big data and Artificial Intelligence for monitoring health status and quality of life after the cancer treatment).
  • Predictive factors during treatment with immunotherapy in patients with metastatic melanoma.
  • Optimizing the neoadjuvant treatment strategies in breast cancer patients
  • Immunotherapy in clinical practice
  • Clinical and molecular prediktive factors for exceptional responders on targeted therapies in patients with metastatic breast cancer.
  • Influenza vaccination in cancer patients treated with targeted therapies
