Cost of living
Sweden is a wealthy country with a high living standard, very low corruption, and a well-educated and skilled workforce.
Sweden is the largest country in the Nordic region, both in terms of area and number of inhabitants. The Swedish labour market is characterised by high employment and a high level of education. One in three over the age of 25 has three years or more of post-secondary education.
High wages – low income inequality
The average salary in Sweden was SEK 34,600 per month in 2018. Income inequality is relatively low compared to many other countries.
Common welfare
Sweden has a well-functioning social security system and expanded childcare that is primarily tax-financed. By working here, you contribute to the welfare system.
Cashless society
The currency of Sweden is called the krona and is denoted as SEK. Many shops, restaurants and public transport no longer accept cash. Instead, you pay by bank or credit card or mobile phone using the app “Swish”. You will need a Swedish bank account with internet banking to use Swish.
