Before doctoral studies
For those of you who are embarking on your doctoral studies, information and support are available on the university website, see links below. You can also ask supervisors and the research administration for help.
The university may only admit applicants who are offered doctoral studentships. The doctoral studentship is a special type of employment designed to facilitate doctoral studies. It guarantees a minimum rate of study of 80 per cent. Consequently, the student will spend a maximum of 20 per cent of their working hours on other duties, such as teaching or administration.
The university may, however, admit applicants who have some other form of funding for their studies, if it is deemed that the funding can be secured for the duration of the programme and that the applicant will be able to devote a sufficient amount of their time to their studies in order to complete the programme: in four years in the case of a Degree of Licentiate and eight years in the case of a Degree of Doctor.
