Listing qualifications in applications for a teaching post – a guide

Job adverts from Örebro University contain information on necessary qualifications, which criteria are to be met, and which documents are to be attached to the application for the post in question. The specific rules, eligibility requirements, and assessment criteria that apply for each category of teaching staff have been laid down in Örebro University’s Appointment Procedures, complemented by specific guidelines from the respective faculty board. Covering letter
A brief introduction to your application and a summary of your competence and skills, linked to the post in question and its requirements as set out in the profile/advert (maximum of one A4).

CV
An account of personal data, degrees/qualifications, employment and other relevant formalities.

  • Name, date of birth, home address, telephone and email address
  • Degrees/qualifications, year and higher education institution in chronological order
  • Academic undergraduate/first degree, licentiate degree, doctoral degree, other qualifications, appointment as non-salaried docent (relevant certificates to be attached separately)
  • Current employment:
    Title, place of work, length and type of employment (ratio of teaching/research/clinical duties and responsibilities, if applicable)
  • Previous employment in chronological order
  • Language skills
  • References
    With their permission, state the name, title and contact details of three references able to provide an assessment of research/artistic and teaching expertise as well as of your interpersonal skills.

Research portfolio
Describe your own research contributions and your research results. Previous, current and planned research activities and your role in various research collaborations. Account for research funding granted, including the name of the funding body, amount, date, and your role in the application. Account for active participation in and contributions to national and international conferences. Include details of scientific review assignments and other research qualifications, as well as supervision responsibilities. Describe the way in which you fulfil the university’s collaboration and public engagement mission in terms of disseminating information; collaborating with the wider community; and promoting utilisation of the university’s research. For example, through networks, popular-science contributions, and collaboration with external partners.

Artistic portfolio
Describe your own artistic work and your previous, current and planned productions. Describe the importance of your work for the subject field in question, from both a national and international perspective. Account for the ways in which you have contributed to the artistic process and the end result reaching a wider audience.

List of publications
A complete list of publications. State which of the publications should be particularly considered in the application in question and give your reasons for this.

Scientific publications
The selected publications (maximum of 10) to be considered as support for this application, to be attached as separate electronic files.

Course and degree certificates, transcripts of records and references
Separate electronic copies of relevant certificates that give evidence for eligibility and criteria met for employment.

Clinical portfolio (upon request)

Documents/publications written in other languages

Only documents written in Swedish, English, Norwegian and Danish can be reviewed when applying for a job at Örebro University. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the authority understands what is stated in the documents submitted. This means that the applicant must translate their application documents into a language that the authority is expected to master.

Please note! For the application to be complete, the documents must be submitted before the application deadline. After the application deadline, no supplements can be made electronically. If applicable, applicants will at a later stage receive instructions on supplementing their application for the external experts’ review. Such a supplement is however limited to any scientific publications that cannot be attached to the application electronically.

When applying for admission to research studies, always attach the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Proof of completed higher education, if applicable degree certificates.
  • Independent project (degree project).
