Örebro University’s strategy and action plan for sustainable development outlines seven prioritised target areas.

Prioritised target areas are:

  • Education for a sustainable future
  • Research for a sustainable future
  • Equal opportunities and gender equality
  • Sustainable collaboration and business travel
  • Efficient and effective use of facilities
  • Sustainable consumption
  • Environmental management system

Örebro University has a policy for sustainable development prescribing that the university is to:  

  • Integrate sustainable development into education and research.
  • Integrate sustainable development in decision-making, procurement, and the operational aspects of its activities.
  • In its work on sustainable development, collaborate with various actors locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Education for a sustainable future
We want to provide all students with key knowledge and skills to enable sustainable transitions.

Research for a sustainable future
Research for a sustainable future is to strengthen scientific collaborations and harness knowledge within different disciplines.

Equal opportunities and gender equality
Gender equality efforts is to be an integral element of the university’s work, research and teaching.

Sustainable collaboration and business travel
The university is to collaborate effectively with other players in society, nationally and internationally, with respect to time, costs and environmental impact.

Efficient and effective use of facilities
The university is to have appropriate and effectively utilised facilities with respect to economy, function, technology, and energy consumption.

Sustainable consumption
We want to reduce the university’s negative impact on the environment and contribute to social sustainability – aspects that we consider in our procurement, purchasing and waste management processes.

Environmental management system
The environmental management system is to contribute to the university working in a structured and integrated way with environmental issues.
