Learning Lab – a pedagogic testing environment
Örebro University and Akademiska Hus have together designed Learning Lab Örebro. The goal is to develop knowledge of how room design, teaching methods and technology can be used to shape future learning environments in new and remodelled buildings.
The original collaboration agreement between Örebro University and Akademiska Hus was signed for four years (2022–2025). The agreement has now been extended until December 2027.
Background
Akademiska Hus has developed a concept for a Learning Lab , a test environment for future learning environments. The concept is now being used in the collaboration between Örebro University and Akademiska Hus, and together, we are creating knowledge about how our premises on campus can be developed to meet the new needs for teaching and learning in a changing world.
Where and how?
The Learning Lab is located in the western wings of Långhuset, between the Info Centre and the Kraka restaurant. First opened in 2022, Learning Lab 1.0 (yellow on the map) is housed in the northern wing and has since been used for teaching and learning activities. It may be booked for activities such as meetings and conferences when available.
Learning Lab 2.0 (red on the map) is now under construction in the southern wing and is scheduled for completion at the beginning of autumn 2025.
Both Learning Lab 1.0 and Learning Lab 2.0 have study areas with group workstations and can be booked for teaching together with the Learning Lab classrooms. When the study areas are available, they function as regular open study areas for students, either individual or group study.

The Learning Lab is located in Långhuset at Örebro University.
